I agree, but if you find an image you like have you tried contacting the owner for permission to use it. All it takes is an email..

You can get in BIG trouble if you use a copyrighted image that you don't
own. I'm even careful with the copyright status of images I use for
school projects that nobody except the instructor is ever going to see.
For a publicity piece, which is what I want the sword image for, I'm
going to be even more careful.

Have you tried going to Google.com/images and typing in 12th-century
sword in the search box? I did and came up with 36,700 images.
