Good point. Same point. Back when the manufacturing of hard drives was a 
black art and the MTBF in the low 5 digits I think the brand to brand 
differences were more significant. MTBF is now 10 times better and the 
average disk drive is a much better product. Today there in no drive 
brand on my shit list.

There you have it -- a message of universal love from Tom.

P.S. As Tony pointed out, for certain applications with unusual 
characteristics -- like video -- you need to make sure the drive is rated 
for long sustained data transfers. Lesser drives will overheat and start 
to smoke.
