Unless you are dealing with a smartphone you usually need special
software to act as a bridge between the phone software and the OS of
your computer.
If you are saving your pictures onto a memory card, take the card out
of the phone and using a card reader get the photos off of the card that way.
If your phone does not have a memory card, may I recommend a program
called Data pilot. It works well and allows you to back up most of
the data on your phone. HOWEVER ONE CAVEAT be sure to read through
their chart on what it will actually let you do with your
phone. Different cell companies (Verizon being one of the worst)
lock down certain functions to make you go through their network to
get stuff, like ring tones etc..
But the best and easiest way is if you have a memory card, pop it out
and get them that way.
My wife has an Alias and that is what we do. (Son has a Choclate2
and does his music on his card. No network stuff.)
Question for you folks. Have any of you used Parent Chaperone on
your cell phones with Verizon? Son graduates from Basic in a couple
of weeks and will get his Cell phone back for use and is taking it to
AIT. Want to turn on the GPS function incase the phone gets legs.

Hi,
I tried for the first time to transfer photos from my Samsung GLYDE.
I installed the USB driver, but did not install the VCast Music Manager.
After rebooting and connecting the phone, I can see the Samsung USB
USB Driver and the Samsung Mobile Modem in the device manager (I found
a posting on a forum that suggested this as a way to determine whether
the hardware is working).
Unlike my Canon ELPH, there does not seem to be any camera-specific
software for the phone, just the USB driver and the Music Manager (on
the CD).
I have Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0. I tried to use its
Photo Downloader to retrieve the photos. It says "No Device Found".
Do I need the VCast Music Manager to do this? Should I try some other
software besides Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition?
Thanks!
