Dunno either ...tape drive controller shows bang and cannot be disabled or deleted and also shows no driver and cannot be rolled back or updated ...??

The controller could be the one doing the masquerading. Didn't Iomega start out with tape drives? Could they be using the same controller for the Zip drives? They already have a driver for that.
