If all I want to do is copy the headers and not send a new email, I set the headers to display the info I want. Then I select "Forward" which neatly displays the header for the selected email.

How much information do you need from the headers? The former [Normal] should be enough, but you do have a choice. You could look at the code, but forwarding is much easier.
