Since our WFBs have no answer I'll give it a try. My first
recommendation to a Mac user would be to find their laptop on one of
the Mac teardown/repair sites and follow the directions to take it
apart. Your friend may find that the problem is only a loose cable
that can be easily reseated. Or they may find a damaged part and can
order it online. I have seen completely non-technical folks tear down
a MacBook and put it back together using just the directions found
online.
