Searching on web I came across http://www.nvda-project.org/ which I guess substitutes the functionality of pyAA. If you need info about COM in general you can take a look at http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/pythonwin32/chapter/ch12.html and MSDN documentation which is excellent.
