I made a bash script to time how much CPU is used by each buffer; in this way I discovered which pages were responsible for the >90% processor use in Conkeror.
Script, instructions and some timings in http://www.danielclemente.com/scripts/cpu_spent_by_buffers.sh Conkeror could give internal, more precise information.
