Mouse interaction seems like a big step backwards from the whole point
of Conkeror, which is to be a "Mozilla based web browser designed to be
completely keyboard driven".

If the main problem is that,

Wouldn't it be better to have a "C-x n n" that executes a
"narrow-to-dom-node" which would prompt for selection of a node.  Upon
selection of said node, typing f, s or c will only hint within that node (and
"C-x n w" would widen).
