I started conkeror in a terminal and tried to open a pdf but I get no
warnings/errors in the terminal. I then removed the acroread package
from my system and now pdfs open using xpdf in the browser. This is
progress because now I can view pdfs without breaking keybindings but
it's confusing because with the settings I have, evince should be
launch externally, shouldn't it? Confused!

Thanks for your help,
