ISTR reading that some dialects of Aramaic have "emphatic harmony"
where each word has all or none of its consonants emphatic.

Why can't you be a non-conformist just like everybody else?

Hear hear! I've camped only a few times in my life, and promised myself:
never again. I can live on the rough if necessary, but why should I ever
*choose* to live on the rough? For *fun*? Clearly, if you think so, then you
have a completely different idea of what fun is. Making myself homeless on
purpose is not quite my idea of fun.

I don't need the full service, but nice rooms and clean bathrooms are a
must. A cruise could be fun. What about the Nile? Plenty of things to see,
lots of linguistically interesting places :P .

Well, eh... no. Dust is a human invention, that only appears in full-roofed
houses. You won't find dust in nature. Sand, earth, filth maybe, but no
dust.

That said, sand and earth aren't much fun either when they get into your
sleeping bag :( .

Is it OK if I comment here? I only have one quick note: UPSID contains
several "mid vowel" and "dental/alveolar" entries. These should generally
not be understood as entities distinct from mid-close & mid-open, and dental
& alveolar sounds, but cover symbols that can be either (and can be used
when the exact phonetics are not known).
