FAIC is seeking a moderator to approve posts, enforce list guidelines, and
craft a weekly digest for distribution to more than 10,000 subscribers. The
Conservation DistList (ConsDistList) is a mailing list with an international
audience, and features posts about treatments, research, job and internship
openings, educational opportunities, conferences, and more.

The moderator will review each post for appropriateness, succinctness, and
clarity, sending back to the authors for revision as needed. While the digest
currently is automatically sent out, discussions are leading to a new method
that may require more hand-editing. The moderator will also approve new
subscribers, handle member requests, and work with the site administrator on
directory updates.

Moderator should have a basic knowledge of the conservation and preservation
field to ensure posts are on-topic, should have very good editing skills, and
should be comfortable with technology, but knowledge of Mailman or HTML is not
necessary. Moderator should also be a self-starter and able to manage the list
on their own, though technical and editorial support will be available.

The stipend will be $20 per hour, with an expected workload of 4-7 hours per
week, not to exceed $7,500 annually.

Contact Bonnie Naugle at [email protected] with your letter of
interest. Please include contact information, a brief summary of your
background, and note why you are interested in this role.

Note: We thank Matt for his help updating and temporarily moderating the
ConsDistList! He will still be working behind the scenes to update our
infrastructure, and serving as FAIC’s Digital Strategies Advocate.
