Publishing the Contemporary: The State of Printmaking Today Saturday, November 5, 2016, 2:00 pm Park Avenue Armory Board of Officers Room 643 Park Avenue, New York, NY 10065 Admission is free and open to the general public
The International Fine Print Dealers Association <http://www.ifpda.org/> (IFPDA) and the Association of Print Scholars <http://www.printscholars.org/> (APS), two organizations dedicated to the study and appreciation of fine art prints, are pleased to collaboratively present a panel discussion on the market for contemporary prints and the state of contemporary publishing. This special event will celebrate the 25th anniversary of the IFPDA Print Fair, the largest and most celebrated art fair dedicated to fine prints. The panel will engage a wide range of audiences, from enthusiasts of contemporary art and those new to the print market to experienced scholars and curators. The panelists will discuss the often complex world of print publishing, and address questions such as: how do new prints come to market? How do contemporary artists collaborate with print studios and publishers and what is the relationship of prints to their work in other media? What are the different types of contemporary print sellers? What are the roles of auction houses and online sales platforms including Artnet Auctions, Paddle8/ Auctionata, and 1stDibs? Moderated by print specialist and critic Sarah Kirk Hanley, the panel will feature four leading members of the contemporary print market who represent a diversity of specialties and types of print publishers, from a university-based establishment to a long-standing commercial printer/publisher, and from an independent publisher who contracts with multiple print studios to a relatively new, small-scale press. Three are members of the IFPDA and exhibitors in the Print Fair: Diana Gaston, Director, Tamarind Institute; Donald Taglialatella, Owner, World House Editions; Joni Moisant Weyl, Owner, Gemini G.E.L. at Joni Moisant Weyl. The fourth panelist, Marina Ancona, Master Printer at 10 Grand Press, has a booth at the Editions/Artists’ Books Fair held concurrently at The Tunnel. Seating is limited and reservations are recommended. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/publishing-the-contemporary-the -state-of-printmaking-today-tickets-27954052323 ****** Unsubscribe by sending a message to [email protected] Archives through August 2016 at http://cool.conservation-us.org/byform/mailing-lists/cdl/ Archives from September 2016 onward at https://www.mail-archive.com/[email protected]/
