I am a Post-Baccalaureate student in Art Conservation at Studio Arts College International Florence and I’m writing a thesis entitled, “Should Mural Painting Detachment be Included in Conservation Curriculum”? I aim to discover whether methods of detachment are being taught theoretically and/or practically at universities and institutions in Europe and the United States.
Does your university/institution offer training in the methods of stacco/strappo? Should mural painting detachment be included in conservation curriculum or should it be taught only in theory?
