'Our freezer defrosts three times a day for 15 minutes – the whole defrost cycle is completed in that 15 minutes. One of the reasons we have passive humidity control within the cabinets to is to ameliorate the fluctuations (passive control via silica granules). We have the negatives in at least three layers of protection as well which slows down the defrost within the cabinets. Nitrate is a bit different to acetate – I don’t have any concerns about the acetate negs in our freezer with our additional ‘padding’. Nitrate I would be more concerned if the temp fluctuations were for longer…'
