The International Institute for Conservation (IIC) has made two important changes to its membership fee structure, effective from 1 July 2017 (the beginning of our membership year).
IIC has long wished to make membership more affordable for colleagues who live and work in countries where salaries are substantially less than those in Western Europe and North America. We have introduced a a system of banded membership rates that follows the classification of countries based on per capita income used by UNESCO and the International Council of Museums (ICOM). Membership fees will be held at the 2016-2017 level for those in the more affluent countries within band 1, but there will be a 25% discount for band 2 countries and a 50% discount for those from band 3 or 4 nations. We very much hope that this will not only make membership more affordable for existing IIC Fellows and Individual Members, but will also encourage greater participation in IIC from countries where average incomes are very much lower, and which are not currently part of our international network. Sadly, this discount does not apply to student members, as their membership fee is already close to the minimum needed to cover costs. A second discount will be offered to those who also belong to their regional or local conservation organisation, in recognition of their complementarity with IIC. This 10% discount will be offered to all Fellows and Members (including students), who indicate that they also belong to their national or regional body (including IIC regional groups) when they take out or renew their IIC membership. Details of the banding for different countries is available on the IIC website, along with a list of the regional and national organisations for which the 10% discount applies: www.iiconservation.org/about/membership/discounts The 2017-2018 membership fees after the regional discount has been applied are given below. In each case, these fees are reduced by 10% after the regional/national organisation discount. Please note that 'GBP' used here means UK Pounds / Pounds Sterling.
