Vacancy for a Conservator-Restorer of Paintings and Polychrome Sculptures Atelier del Restauro LTD is a company between Maltese and Italian conservators who are specialised in the field of conservation of works of art. Based in Mosta, Malta the laboratory specializes in the conservation and restoration of paintings, polychrome sculptures and paper. The group is characterised by a commitment to follow a holistic, methodological approach based on scientific investigations. The laboratory has a vacancy for a Conservator-Restorers of Paintings & Polychrome Sculpture to carry out treatments on canvas and panel paintings, polychrome wood sculptures and gilded frames on behalf of public collections and private clients. Working as part of the small team at Atelier del Restauro you will be required to carry out conservation treatments autonomously according to the directive given. You will be able to manage your work to ensure that deadlines are met, communicate effectively with colleagues, clients and visitors. You may be required undertake work on site. The successful candidate will have completed their training in painting conservation and have excellent communication skills. The initial contract will be for six months, renewable for a year up to an indefinite period subject to suitability. The selection process will include a 2 day trial.
In addition, we are looking for candidates with: · A recognised qualification in conservation and restoration of paintings and a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. · Excellent retouching skills. · Demonstrated knowledge of current conservation materials an conservation and restoration techniques. · The ability to adhere to deadlines. · The ability to work independently and as part of a team, as required. · Good communication and administrative skills including computer literacy. · A person who intends to move to Malta for more than one year.
