Contract Type: Permanent Schedule Type: Full Time Working Hours: 37 per week Salary: 23398 - 27668 GBP Year Closing Date: 18-02-2018 About the Role Lancashire Archives, an accredited archive service, is looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated qualified archive conservator to join our team and be involved in the preservation and conservation of traditional and modern media from the12th century to the present day. As an experienced professional, you will undertake the full range of archive conservation work, including monitoring the archive storage environments; cleaning, packaging and carrying out interventive treatments to accepted standards; supporting colleagues with expert guidance and facilitating public access to the collections. This is a permanent post working 37hpw Monday to Friday. Key Accountabilities *Assess individual documents and archive collections, evaluating remedial options and determining appropriate solutions for stabilisation, treatment and storage *Undertake interventive conservation treatments, without supervision, to a wide range of documents including paper, parchment, books, seals, maps and photographic and audio collections *Work to an acceptable standard using appropriate methods which meet nationally recognised professional and technical standards and codes of ethics *Ensure the safe and appropriate use and regular maintenance of workshop equipment *Keep clear and accurate records *Complete project work in a timely manner and to a consistent standard *Be aware of the latest developments in preservation and conservation and ensure that your professional and technical skills are up to date *Provide advice to managers, colleagues and customers and take part in outreach events as required Skills and Experience Essential *Professional qualification in Archive Conservation - ARA diploma or equivalent *Demonstrable practical experience of the conservation, preservation and exhibition of archives *An up to date knowledge of conservation principles and practice and of relevant national standards *Good interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively in a friendly manner both orally and in writing *Ability to use a range of IT equipment and software *Organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly in a public service *Experience of working in a team and with partners *Accuracy and attention to detail *Ability to lift and carry Desirable Accredited membership of Icon or commitment to working towards accreditation(PACR) Other Lancashire County Council as an equal opportunities employer intends that no job applicant or employee will receive less favourable treatment because of their age, disability, gender identity, marriage or civil partnership status, pregnancy or maternity, sex, sexual orientation, race, religion or belief unless this can be objectively justified.
