Subject: [Consdistlist] photodocumentation capture software

...There are many software programs out there; is anyone using a software
program tethered to a DSLR camera that they would recommend?...

Hello Rhea,

        I've used Capture One
(https://www.phaseone.com/en/Products/Software/Capture-One-Pro/Highlights.aspx)
in the past with excellent results. Not only can you completely control the
camera and lights while tethered but it is also a great workflow software. It
handles large amounts of RAW images if that's what you're shooting in or as
easily works with other formats. The workflow aspect lets you set up pretty
much any post processing options and procedures you can think of so you can
walk away while it goes to work on one or many images. It's a pretty powerful
piece of software. I never had an issue with it freezing up that I can remember
or any issue really. The only downside is it isn't the cheapest, about $300
USD. It also has a bit of a learning curve but nothing that the average person
couldn't get used to with time and some occasional online searching, at least
for the everyday functions. There is a free trial to give it a test as well as
a list of supported cameras.
