Good day, As we are conserving more and more outdoors painted sculptures, we are looking into acquiring a spectrophotometer and glossmeter to accurately record color and gloss of original paints, especially in cases where complete repainting is required.
We'd like to acquire good meters that can be calibrated and give consistant results (i.e. not an Amazon 200$ model), but we don't want to spend a fortune either (i.e. a 20 000 $ Minolta spectrophotometer = not in our price range). I'd like to have feedback from conservators who have acquired such meters, comments (good and bad) on brands and models, price ranges that can be expected. Any useful information is welcome.
