The BPG Publications Committee is seeking a new Assistant Editor of the *Book and Paper Group Annual*, with the duties of the position to be assumed at the 2019 AIC Annual Meeting. This is a time-intensive volunteer position, but is pivotal in the continuing production of this publication. BPG members who can't attend the annual meeting rely on the publication of the Annual to stay current in the field and the digital issues are regularly accessed by professionals from around the world. Thank you, Henry Hebert *BPG Publications Committee ChairConservator for Special Collections, Duke University Libraries * *///////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////* *Job Description for Assistant Editor of the BPG Annual* The Book and Paper Group Annual Assistant Editor (A/E) is a volunteer position, which requires a substantial time commitment throughout the calendar year. The Assistant Editor is supported by the BPG Publications Committee (PubComm) and the Managing Editor (M/E) to ensure that the BPG Annual meets the yearly publication deadline. To fulfill the demands of this job, the Assistant Editor must have good interpersonal, communicative, and project management skills, a good command of English grammar, syntax and some editing experience. The AE works primarily with the Managing Editor but also participates in all BPG PubComm activities. The Assistant Editor serves a two-year appointment with an expectation that they take-over as Managing Editor for an additional two-year appointment. *Responsibilities:* - Corresponds with the Managing Editor about the format of that year's meeting and how it will impact the management of the Annual. - Corresponds with the Managing Editor about division of labor, deadlines and process. The labor involved during the review process for Annual submissions is divided between the M/E and A/E. - Supervises receiving and organizing submissions and licensing agreements from presenters and independent authors assigned to the A/E. - Assists in the proof-reading process for the Annual by reviewing and editing submissions and page proofs from presenters and independent authors assigned to the A/E.
