Please join us for a BAACG sponsored event featuring presenters
Dan Rael and Howard Burrows, founders of CatalogIt, a recently launched
collections database application, shared interface for your
desktop, mobile phone, and tablet devices. Create an Entry with the camera on
your smartphone and it’s immediately available for you or your colleagues to
view and edit from any device.

Enter and automatically link Entries based on shared characteristics such as
people, places, techniques, materials and more.

Whether utilized in museums or private practice, a modern database should offer
a visual platform to capture processes through images, track objects as they
enter and leave a space, and provide access to vital information about objects.
Gone are the days of having a program that lives on a single device accessible
to a single user at a time. CatalogIt is simple and user-friendly, just like
any other time-saving app for your phone or tablet. CatalogIt transforms the
way we interface not only with the objects themselves, but with our clients,
colleagues, and museum audiences with collaborative features such as a
web-publishing tool.

Dan and Howard will provide a brief background of the development of CatalogIt
followed by a demonstration of its main features and of features that they’ll
be adding in the near term. They’ll describe the specific plans they’ve created
for Museums, Conservators, Organizations and Private collectors. Following the
demonstration, we will break out into smaller groups led by Dan, Howard, and
other local current professional users to provide detailed anecdotes of how
CatalogIt is being used and to allow for the opportunity to discuss CatalogIt
and its potential uses in greater detail.
