Subject: Gallery Lighting Specifications

My colleagues and I are currently researching art gallery lighting. We are
looking for lights offering good modelling, high CRI, and a reasonable spectral
output with no horrible blue peaks. We are hoping to make contact with UK
professionals who have recent experience with re-lighting galleries containing
light sensitive artefacts. Ours is a regional museum service and our budget
will be limited, but we would like to believe there is a path through the
shifting sands. If you have navigated such a path, please get in touch!

Hi Stephanie,

If you're unable to source cyclododecane, menthol has many of the same
properties and has been used as a replacement. It may have the same health and
safety issues as cyclododecane, however.

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had any resources for purchasing cyclododecane? I
have been having a difficult time finding somewhere to order it from. Thank you
in advance!

I got a nudge from a fellow New Yorker that the New York Pigment Company

that took over for Kremer (and located here in NYC) now sells cyclododecane.

I ordered cyclododecane in that window between when Kremer closed and NYPC was
just opening.  I had no problems getting it from Germany, but it is true, that
you can order it here in the US easily too.

I found that ordering from Chemical companies was impossible as a private
conservator.

Maybe at an institution, that works.

Good luck, Martha

Kremer pigments. You can order it from Germany. It does not take that long.

Hi:
Forgive me if this is a second post.

New York PIgment Co (took over for Kremer Pigment in NYC), sells cyclododecane:

It is "out of stock". Not sure what that means in terms of timing to get it
shipped to you.

Worth checking out. I had problems as a private practice conservator ordering
cyclododecane from chemical companies.

Best, Martha

Subject: Call for Submissions to Create a Community Poster Center
Message: Call for Submissions to Create a Community Poster Center - A
Searchable Library of Conservation and Preservation Posters for a Community
Audience

Description of the Project

Give your pre-existing posters from AIC, ANAGPIC, WAAC, and beyond a second
life! Your Neighborhood Museum is hoping to create a community library of
posters that will be accessible and searchable to communities working to
preserve their cultural heritage as well as fellow colleagues.

Submission topics will change as the repository grows. The first two rounds of
submission requests are topics that are relevant to upcoming events. However,
we are happy to continue to receive submissions on these subjects after the
deadlines for the larger ongoing poster library.

Your Neighborhood Museum (YNM) <https://www.yourneighborhoodmuseum.org/>
believes in building the capacity of our communities to engage both our
material and intangible histories and be the narrators of our own lived
experiences. We do this by boldly envisioning and thoughtfully experimenting
with new ways of utilizing museum services such as collections management,
research, conservation and preservation, exhibition design, public program
development, and more. The goal is to enable communities to lead efforts
towards connection, revitalization, understanding, creative expression and
self-determination.

Current Ask

YNM is preparing for an intertribal gathering for collections care and
repatriation at the University of Montana
<https://www.indian-affairs.org/nagpratrainingmontana.html>, in Missoula, MT on
May 12-14, 2026. As co-planners, we are hoping to create a diverse poster
exhibit space at the gathering that will provide useful information for the
attendees. As conservators, we know that there are many wonderful posters out
there that deserve a second showcase. We are hoping to gather a sampling that
is relevant to a cultural heritage preservation audience working with tribal
materials.

Topics we are currently requesting submissions are:

Pesticides on cultural heritage items

Mold

Storage Materials for organic collections

Submission Deadline: April 20th

Future Asks

The next round of submission requests will be in anticipation of the upcoming
YNM Care Workshop <https://www.yourneighborhoodmuseum.org/programs/care> and
include the following topics:

Glass beads

Leather

Feathers

Quillwork

Submission Deadline: June 31st
