In addition to Tom's slides which lay the BP foundation, perhaps this https://wiki.opendaylight.org/view/BestPractices/DI_Guidelines doc which shows how to use @Inject @Singleton annotations in code instead of BP XML could be of interest to some in this context. (This fits well with the overall BP direction, it's not an alternative/competition, just an easier way instead of <bean> tags in XML, while still using the XML for <service> etc.)
