looks far better to me, i'll have a look asap on that...

>I'm still a little baffled why you 2? are having such trouble with r128.

what do you call r128 ? my video card chipset ???

here is my lspci output :

00:0b.0 Host bridge: Apple Computer Inc. Bandit PowerPC host bridge (rev 03)
00:0f.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage Pro (rev 5c)
00:10.0 Class ff00: Apple Computer Inc. Grand Central I/O (rev 02)
01:0b.0 Host bridge: Apple Computer Inc. Bandit PowerPC host bridge (rev 03)
01:0d.0 VGA compatible controller: Cirrus Logic GD 5436 [Alpine]
01:0f.0 SCSI storage controller: Artop Electronic Corp ATP860 (rev 01)

personnaly i'm not so surprised about that, because, one of the reason to
switch from ydl 2.2 to mdk is in that ydl XFree was not working, here the
situation is worst for me because i had to do the install in texte mode,
and the better in the mdk side : Xpmac still exist. However, according to
xfree.org, both chipset are supported.

I know Xpmac is more or less obsolete, but also stable, right ???

Quiet frankly i think the prob comes from XFree versus video card. I had
even the help of one of my sons, which is system administrator on UNIX
machines, he uses courantly mdk over some coreen PC and he give up.

Remember, in order to tune the XF86Config file i did a complete re-
install of the older ydl 2.1 in order to copy the working modelines...

The thing really strange to me is in that when i launch under XFree
(after at least one KDE launch under Xpmac) i'm able to hear the KDE
jingle, and even to restart cleanly (no fsck to do...)

Here i should mention i had a seg fault under fsck when trying to reboot
--> complete re-install.

I think i'll found a solution for XFree when i'll be no more in search of
a solution, accidentaly...

A ppc 9500 oldworld.
