I didn't see this in the bug archives, but it seems like would already be reported: Starting install with a mouse systems mouse does not work. I had to plug in a Microsoft mouse. Even after I selected Mouse Systems, It was still using the Microsoft protocol. Either the mouse needs to be detected, or mouse selection should happen before the GUI.
