oh...duh....don't have to mount the stupid thing to play audio...

well, i (as you stated) really dont' have a need to mount the thing unless you
want to copy it.  which i don't

guess there should really be some type of prompt stating "cannot mount audio
cd-rom" or something.  think when i do put an "audio/music cdrom" into my
actual scsi cdrom (and not ide-scs cd-rw), it appears to actually play it. 
the scsi cd-rom continues to with the green light while the rest of teh kde
desktop freezes.  (can't break out of it or anything).

enjoying my audio/music cdrom now (via cd-rw)   :)
