you can try (in root)

cd Mandrake/mdkinst/usr/bin/perl-install
./g_auto_install

and do the fake install to the point of choosing packages. Don't be afraid of
the diskdrake step, it won't touch the partitions. It's fake only (believe me, i
do it all the time)
