I encountered this bug as well (Mandrake 9.1RC2). I rebooted, and before doing
anything else I attempted to list the contents of /mnt/win_c (my WinXP NTFS
partition), worked fine. Then on a hunch I tried to use DrakFont to install my
windows fonts, as I'd done that previously and it did not work...on clicking
"Get Windows Fonts", the first bar progressed normally, but upon reaching the
second step, (represented by bar #2), DrakFont froze up (bug #1984 describes the
same problem). All attempts to kill the hung DrakFont process failed. I opened
console and did another 'ls /mnt/win_c' and ls hung as described above. So,
trying to "Get Windows Fonts" caused the problem for me. The only way to regain
access to my NTFS partition is to reboot my machine (and while shutting down,
there are several complaints about not being able to unmount the partition).
I also tried copying the font files manually; this worked. So evidently it is
not a problem with the filesystem. After copying the files over to my ext3
partition, I attempted to install them, and DrakFont froze yet again, only it
didn't take my ext3 partition down with it like it did the NTFS partition.
Hope this helps.

NTFS mounts ok, but locks any application that trys to access it (bash,
konquerer, nautilus). Cannot find any logs as to why this is happening. I am
trying to mound a Windows XP NTFS partition on /dev/hda1
