Product: Hardware Component: Hardware Summary: Function buttons on Toshiba laptop Version: 9.1-0.1mdk Platform: PC OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I don't know if this is a bug or a configuration issue, but I think it would be nice if this worked out of the box... Configuration: Toshiba 5205-S703 laptop The acpi stuff works when the toshiba and toshiba_acpi modules are loaded. In fact, it's working really well -- the battery monitor works correctly, the SD card reader is detected (though I haven't tried to read and write to it yet -- and this may not be an acpi issue), the screen brightness can be varied, etc. However.... None of this maps to the function keys on the box. I have written a bunch of little shell scripts to write to the appropriate /proc/acpi/toshiba/* files when I want to change things, but it would be nice if the function keys worked. This may have a simple work-around -- I don't know how to play with the function key mappings, and it is just as easy for me to run the scripts from a console window. However, I'll assert without proof that it would be better if everybody with a Toshiba laptop didn't have to write their own little scripts... billo ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
