If I repeat the above on the same hardware booting MDK 9.0, (using "dhcpcd eth1" instead of "dhclient eth1"), everything works! In my home wireless environment, where I have no encryption turned on, I do not run the script above, but simply type "dhclient eth1" on MDK 9.1RC2 and I am up on the network.
