hi,

using the 9.1 or the current cooker kernel one of our systems has become quite
unstable. I continue to get frequent kernel panics that look like this one
(excerpt):

-------CUT--------
Assertion failure in ext3_new_block at balloc.c:713: "!(__builtin_constant [...]
Kernel BUG at balloc.c:713!
Invalid operand: 0000
[...]
Process: syslogd
[...]
-------CUT--------

Fortunately this does not occur very often (though too often) and my knowledge
of kernel debugging is "a bit" limited ..., so if you need further information
(e.g. the entire trace) please also tell me how to obtain it.

This did not occur in the old 2.4.20 kernel series, so this is probably a bug
in 2.4.21.

some information on the system:
MB: soyo dragon raid plus
chipset: VIA KT266A

greets

udo
