Product: drakconf Component: drakconf Summary: Automatic entries added to /etc/fstab for LVM partitions Product: drakconf Version: 9.1-9mdk Platform: PC OS/Version: All Status: UNCONFIRMED Severity: normal Priority: P2 Component: drakconf AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED] ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED] I have just just freed up space on one of my drives (/dev/hdb) and added it to my LVM volume group using the Mandrake Control Centre. What I did was: a. Delete the old partitions on the disk. b. Create a new LVM partition (/dev/hdb1) c. Add the LVM partition to my volume group. To my surprise I discovered that an entry had been made in /etc/fstab for the new partition (/dev/hdb1). The entry can be deleted but is automatically regenerated on boot. A check with fdisk confirms that the partition type for /dev/hdb1 is set to 8E (i.e. an LVM partition). I've done a little bit of digging around, and discovered that Mandrake attempts to discover new partitions and create the appropriate /etc/fstab entries and mount points for them. However there appears to be a flaw in this process since it should ignore LVM and MD partition types (which it is not at the moment). I think this check should be added to /etc/dynamic/scripts/part.script. -- Configure bugmail: http://qa.mandrakesoft.com/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are on the CC list for the bug, or are watching someone who is.
