And the window's text actually shows, only the buttons are not labelled. but I noticed another interesting thing. I started mozilla-mail from the menu in order to make a screenshot. Then I started mozilla from a konsole because I wanted to get the error window onto that screenshot too. I suspect the optimization flags as source of the problem.
