I have a IBM 300PL with the S3 Trio3D chipset and these patches fixed to
problems. I don't
know if it's been reported but I have just loaded beta 3 and the bug is
still present. XFree86.org
also has the fixes on the web. I hope they will make it into 7.1 release

Hi,

if you did not ask for help/support using XFree86 on IBM 300GL or 300PL
computers using S3 Trio3D (or maybe about problems with S3 Trio3D/2X)
please ignore this mail and excuse that your email address has
automatically been selected when trying to contact those users.

if you're still reading... thanks to IBM SPC at Stuttgart/Vaihingen
(esp. Mr. Remmlinger!) and SuSE, I finally was able to locate/fix
the XFree88 problems with IBM 300GL or 300PL systems (screen blanks
or powers down).

you can find a fixed SVGA server binary (both RPM and *.tar.gz,
compiled on SuSE 6.4 using glibc-2.1) and source patches on

        ftp://ftp.tat.physik.uni-tuebingen.de/pub/XFree86/

this binary/patches also fixes the known bugs for S3 Trio3D/2X
(white block cursor with 8MB ram, flickering screen).
