This means that you probably don't have metacity installed, or that your gconf is configured incorrectly." (copying text from dialogs in GTK2 is the greatest thing since sliced bread :) Running for i in /etc/gconf/schemas/*.schemas ; do GCONF_CONFIG_SOURCE=`gconftool-2 --get-default-source` gconftool-2 --makefile-install-rule $i > /dev/null; done does not spew any errors, but does not seem to fix the problem.
