GDM doesn't integrate well with KDE. KDM does a far better job of being desktop integration friendly (you click reboot or shutdown under KDE or gnome, it'll happily do so, while GDM seems not to allow that.) If you don't like seeing all the users, open kcontrol and edit the login manager settings. - -- Gary L.
