This is really an umbrella bug for a number of problems I've encountered
while trying to install Mandrake 9.2beta on my machine. The situation
doesn't look as a generic Linux problem since all other major distributions
(SuSe 8.1, RedHat9) were able to install themselves without any problems.

The main charecteristics of my PC is that everything is connected via USB to it.
Keyboard, mouse, scanner, USB mass storage. And I guess that's the root cause
of what I'm seeing. I haven't had success with Mandrake 9 line at all. All minor
versions are affected. Please give this bug a serious consideration since
USB mouse/keyboard are getting popular these days and without considering
such configurations you might lose a number of potential users. Ok here are
the problems. They are all realted to installation phase:

1.During install USB keyboard/mouse could get lost at any stage making
further progress with installation impossible (I can't answer installer's
      questions without keyboard, right?).

    2. Even when they are functional I'm getting a flood of:

       <4> usb_control/bulk_msg: timeout

       kernel messages.

    3. Each splash screen during an installation freezes for 3-7 minutes
before getting any further. So all I left to stare at for that
period of time is a gray rectangle on the left without any
text or even -- "Wait. Operation in progress" message.

    4. Since keyboar/mouse could be lost during any stage of install
it could be very helpfull if installer could resume after reboot
instead of going from the start.

    5. Even when I used PS/2 keyboard dueing install and swithed my
regular USB one later on when the system booted up for the
first time it didn't help. Kernel loses track of USB keyboard
and all I can do is reboot.

Thanks,
Roman.
