Set 'suspend=/dev/hdXY' in the append line of your boot loader
configuration, where hdX is your hard disk (most likely hda), and Y is
the partition number of your swap partition. Then, reboot, and
'pmsuspend' should work. Note, you get different behaviour using apm or
acpi.
