description:
The computer is a Toshiba laptop 5205-S705 (P4 2.4; 512MB; 60GB HD; 3 USB 2.0;
nvidia video; intel i810 audio).

Newly installed fresh copy of MDK 9.2 RC1.

If ACPI is enabled, the computer will freeze when the boot gets to "Checking for
new hardware". This does not occur if 'acpi=off' or 'pci=noacpi' is used in
lilo.conf.

If the harddrake service is disabled, the computer will get to the login prompt
(it is set for runmode 3), but will freeze after logging in as non-root user
before the command line becomes visible. Logging in as root seems to work.

These freezes occur every time, not sporatically.

MDK 9.1 worked flawlessly with ACPI.

Thanks for taking a look!
