------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-03-09 16:20 -------
Thanks Udo. Also seems to be fixed in 2.4.22-4 in my system. This bug report
may be closed in what respects to me.

Incidentally, swsusp is loading ok:

----
[EMAIL PROTECTED]: > dmesg |grep -i susp
Kernel command line: BOOT_IMAGE=linux-suspend ro root=1605 devfs=mount
resume=/dev/hdc3 quiet
ACPI: System [ACPI] (supports S0 S3 (swsusp) S4 S5)
Swsusp 1.0.3: kswsuspd starting
----

I had a typo in one of my lilo entries when I wrote the original bug report,
that's why it wasn't loading for me. Sorry for the confusion.

The first thing I see after choosing a boot image in lilo,
is an error message: "ide: late registration of driver"

There is a thread on this topic in the kernel list:
http://lkml.org/lkml/2003/7/23/242

So far, I am not sure this bug has been fixed. Alan Cox said he had
a quick hack by July 23, but this is all I know.

Perhaps for this reason I can't use swsusp, even passing a correct swap
partition as a kernel parameter via lilo. The boot process hangs on a
panic right after (apparently) loading swsusp. If I don't use swsusp
though(i.e. I don't provide a valid swap partition), I can boot up ok.

This has been going on with the 2.4.22 series, including
kernel-2.4.22.1mdk-1-1mdk

Cheers !
