           Product: kernel
         Component: booting
Summary: RC2 Sound module problems (snd-cmipci).
           Product: kernel
           Version: 2.4.22-5mdk
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: All
            Status: UNCONFIRMED
          Severity: normal
          Priority: P2
         Component: booting
        AssignedTo: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
        ReportedBy: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

When booting RC2 the following lines appear in /var/log/messages:

Sep 10 19:20:00 one sound: Loading sound module (snd-cmipci) succeeded
 Sep 10 19:20:01 one kernel: cmpci: version $Revision: 6.16 $ time 18:25:55
  Sep 7 2003
 Sep 10 19:20:01 one modprobe: lib/modules/2.4.22-6mdk/kernel/drivers/sound/
  cmpci.o.gz:
Sep 10 19:20:01 one modprobe: Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect
module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
Sep 10 19:20:01 one modprobe: You may find more information in syslog or the
  output from dmesg
Sep 10 19:20:01 one modprobe: init_module: No such device
Sep 10 19:20:01 one modprobe: modprobe: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.22-6mdk/
  kernel/drivers/sound/cmpci.o.gz failed
Sep 10 19:20:01 one modprobe: modprobe: insmod cmpci failed
Sep 10 19:20:01 one sound: Loading sound module (cmpci) failed

After logging in (KDE desktop) there is no sound, but when I uncheck
"Start aRts sounserver on KDE startup" in Control Centre > Sound system >
aRts, the sound is working again, although the error messages remain.

In RC1 (and 9.1) there were no problems with the sound.
