I have no floppy drive in my laptop (Compal ACL-10). I don't know if I have a parallel port (I think not), I don't think I ever checked. But Mandrake, although not without problems, loads fine on that machine! Are you sure it's the floppy drive, or is it a kernel bug for a specific piece of hardware on your machine(s)? Cheers Simon
