I did all of this and got into X, but did not make the link you mentioned
...at least I do not think that I did it successfully.
I tried this:
ln /etc/X11/X /usr/X11/bin/XFree86
no /usr/X11, so I tried X11R6 and I still got an error.
What is the exact command? thanks. What does this link do?
