usage: mkinitrd [--version] [-v] [-f] [--ifneeded] [--preload <module>]
       [--omit-scsi-modules] [--with <module>] [--image-version]
<initrd-image>
       <kernel>
       (ex: mkinitrd /boot/initrd 2.0.3)

for now, if you don't have a backup kernel, do

linux init=/bin/sh at lilo
