I talked with 3 Dell people on the phone and browsed Dell's and Creative's web
sites. The problem with Dell's Sound Blaster Live is that their new computers
ship with sound cards that have the DSP chip crippled so that all sound
processing functions take place in software rather than hardware (like a
WinModem). Creative and Dell have no solution to this, but I got Dell to send
me a replacement Sound Blaster Audigy 2. Because this is a driver issue, there
is probably nothing Mandrake can or should do at this time. Mandrake did
successfully detect and configure my Audigy 2 without *any* input from me, so I
was very impressed. Anyone with this problem should contact Dell and get them
to provide a replacement. Thanks for the help.

in 9.2 beta 2 the sound blaster live driver does not take properly.
i have opened mandrake control center and went to the sound card
and enter emu on several occasions and it does not accept the change.
audigy is still present. i have had to enter it and reboot and enter
it again and reboot over and over and then finally it works.
