I also have problems with my Philips Webcam since the 9.1 release. USB
seems to work but the webcam doesn't. In the 9.1, pluging it leads to a
freeze of my box, in the 9.2, it doesn't freeze but doesn't work.

It is an odd issue because it works well with 2.4.20, 21, 22, kernels,
with Con Kolivas patches as well. It even works with 2.6.0-test5, test6
and test7, even with -mm patches.

More generally, as a total newbie on this ML, I wonder why to use
patched kernels in a distribution. I understand that the supermount
patch is a good thing, but I wonder why not to use standards, or at
least very few modified kernels. Or why not tu include at least a
kernel.org kernel in the distrib.

NB : for Mandrake 10, a newbie ML could be a good thing to prevent
people like me to ask such questions

On my acer aspire 1700+ with MDK 9.2rc1 the usb ports donīt work. I had this
problem with MDK 9.1 too.lsusb returns a nice 0x00000 even with my webcam and
speedtouch modem plugged in. Adding pci usb ports has the same result. I know
these ports are from VIA,and they work perfectly with suse live cd 8.2 (That
uses kernel 2.4.20). I think it could be a bus system problem, as in MDK 9.1
sound did't work even if it installed and loaded the drivers, and this works
with the suse live cd too, Iīm installing KDE and will report on sound as soon
as I can. Please try and fix this, without usb I loose my modem, mywebcam, my
printer and my
scanner. I can send more info on the chips, just let me know how to get it (Cat
something in proc, run a script, whatever)
