Hi Chmouel,

I got an answer from the linux-thinkpad newsgroup:
****************************************************************
pcmcia drivers v3.1.19 broke token-ring. you have to either drop back to
3.1.18 or step up to 3.1.20. the 3.1.19 drivers underwent a major change

on how so of the things were done. These changes were removed in 3.1.20.

****************************************************************

So I tryed to install the pcmcia 3.1.20 (compiled with kernel
2.2.17-3mdk)
All seems to be fine but when I run depmod -a, I get following error for
ALL pcmcia-modules:
.....
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.17-3mdk/pcmcia/memory_cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.17-3mdk/pcmcia/netwave_cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.17-3mdk/pcmcia/nmclan_cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.17-3mdk/pcmcia/parport_cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.17-3mdk/pcmcia/pcnet_cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.17-3mdk/pcmcia/qlogic_cs.o
depmod: *** Unresolved symbols in
/lib/modules/2.2.17-3mdk/pcmcia/ray_cs.o
.....
and no client-modul for pcmcia will be loaded.

I don't know what's wrong here but I think this must be the modification
for Mandrake-kernels.

Your current stable kernel in cooker (2.2.17-3mdk) has pcmcia 3.1.19,
please can you update this to the current version 3.1.20 ?

Thanks in advance,
Udo
