I can't use on laptop kernel 2.2.17-4 (neither -3 and -2) for strange LCD
behaviour(as reported) Than I tried hackkernel-2.4.0-0.18 (positive thing:
speed ,nice 1280x1024 LCD resolution , sound work , gnome seems ~ok ;
negative: KDE2 goes KO and freeze laptop on starting with KDEsplash on
screen, as (reported) and problem in configure network 3c589_cs (also
reported...;o)).

I hope this may help.... (else...sorry...;o)

Kindly system sent me an email, inserted here an extract...

system check mailed from root to root :
