Just an response to this.  This is all very well and good, and may
actually make the current packages usable, but it still indicates a
problem with the current files on the server.  They are not doing proper
dependency checking if they allow themselves to be installed without the
db files that they require.  It is understandable that this is going to
happen with a development tree, but it is probably important to correct so
that people who are following the advice to download KDE2 through the
Cooker tree don't fundamentally break their systems in the attempt.  Given
that menu requires RPM and RPM require GLIBC but RPM should also require
DB*.  

I will attempt to install the DB packages against my Cooker install when I
get back to that machine later this evening.  Thanks for the information.
